What’s Up Wednesday- October 2020

Hey everyone! It’s the last Wednesday of October, so I’m linking up with Shay once again for another What’s Up Wednesday post. Every month we answer these questions:

If you blog too, don’t forget to go to Shay’s page and join the link up too. Here we go!

What We’re Eating This Week:

I recently decided to try something new- I signed up for one of those meal delivery kit services! I had heard great things about Marley Spoon(Martha Stewart’s meal delivery service), so I decided to try out that one. I had assumed that these meal delivery kits were really expensive, but it comes out to about $10 a plate. I signed us up for 3 meals a week.

We received our first order on Thursday, so we already cooked and ate 3 meals. I totally failed at taking pictures, but each meal turned out beautifully! Out of the 3 meals, we absolutely loved 2 of them, and thought the 3rd one was pretty good. Our meals this week were Poblano Shrimp tacos, Agrodolce Meatballs with Polenta, and Creamy Artichoke chicken.

The meals are easy to make, take 30 minutes or less, and are restaurant quality. You are also able to choose how many meals you want each week, and pick which meals you want from a pretty big selection.

It’s nice to have some new recipes to incorporate into our weekly menu. I cook 6 or 7 nights a week and sometimes I just run out of ideas for dinner. Trying out these new recipes is so easy because all the ingredients are brought to my door, and I get to skip the grocery store. Plus any recipes we love, I can just keep the recipe card and recreate them later.

If your getting tired of your dinner routine I’d suggest giving Marley Spoon a try!

What I’m Reminiscing About

Pictures from Cooper’s 2 year old photo session popped up on my Facebook Memories today. Reminiscing about my boy being little bitty. I love every age he’s been, but I miss him being little!

What I’m Loving

Well, something BIG happened last night….the Dodgers won the World Series!!!! Woooohooo!! I’m still in shock! I’ve been waiting a long time for this! I’ve been a fan my whole life(because of my Dad) and I barely remember their last World Series win in 1988. I’ve been left heartbroken by this team many times, but last night they did it!

The craziest thing is that I almost missed it! We’ve been having a crazy ice storm here in Oklahoma the last few days, and last night, in the bottom of the 8th inning my DirecTV went out. No satellite signal! I immediately called my brother, who is also a huge Dodger fan, and I watched the end of the game on a video chat with him. He literally held his phone up to his TV so I could see the game. I was so thankful for that!

So proud of my boys in blue- definitely love my Dodgers!

What We’ve Been Up To:

We’ve had a busy month! Obviously still getting settled in and staying very busy with Cooper’s school work. We’ve also been enjoying exploring our new home and squeezing in some Fall activities.

We’ve been to the Pumpkin Patch, multiple Halloween stores, Scissortail Park, Haunt the Zoo at the OKC Zoo, and Myriad Botanical gardens. Oklahoma City is definitely not lacking in fun things to do!

We also had our first house guest! My good friend Noreen came out for a visit. It was so nice to have a friend from home here! We had fun showing her around our new home.

While Noreen was here, we also went to Topgolf for the first time! It was so much fun. Cooper especially loved it- he hasn’t stopped asking to go back.

What I’m Dreading

Well, now that all our boxes are unpacked, I need to get into the garage and organize it. It’s currently a disorganized jumble of holiday bins, tools, bikes, etc. It’s a mess in that garage. Not looking forward to that!

What I’m Working On

Uggghh. Don’t judge me, but I’m still working on adjusting to the Central Time Zone πŸ˜† If I’m able to fall asleep before 2am, it’s a miracle.

What I’m Excited About

Halloween! We are decorated and ready! I didn’t go as crazy with decorations as we usually do. After all the unpacking I’ve done this month, I didn’t want to deal with too much more packing and unpacking of Halloween decor.

Cooper put a lot of thought into choosing his Halloween costume this year. He decided on a “Soul Taker” costume since he wanted to be scary this year:

I’m excited to build our haunted cookie house tonight, carve pumpkins with Cooper tomorrow night, visit the pumpkin patch one more time, and then celebrate Halloween on Saturday. There’s an event during the day that we’re going to drop by, then we’ll probably just trick-or-treat around our neighborhood. I love this time of year!

What I’m Watching/Reading

Well lately all I’ve been watching on TV has been baseball and Halloween movies.

Our Halloween Movie list this year has been:

Goosebumps, Goosebumps 2, Beetlejuice, Haunted Mansion, Coco, Hotel Transylvania, Hotel Transylvania 2 & 3, The House With the Clock in the Walls, and Hocus Pocus.

Book wise, Cooper and I finished the Secret Zoo, and we started reading the second book in the series which is The Secret Zoo: Secrets and Shadows. Cooper loved the first book and is really loving the second book so far. If you have kids in the 8-11 age range, you should check out these books.

What I’m Listening To:

My son is watching an episode of Wild Kratts(love that show), so that’s what I’m listening to at the moment.

What I’m Wearing

Nothing new to report here. Shopping hasn’t even been on my mind. But I will have to buy some more warm sweaters and jackets because it has been freezing here this week! Literally freezing. Everything is covered in ice and I don’t exactly have the wardrobe for this kind of weather πŸ˜†

What I’m Doing This Weekend

Saturday we’ll be Halloween-ing it up, then Sunday I want to go for a hike at the nature park near our house. Hopefully the weather cooperates! It has been FREEZING the last few days- literally. Saturday it’s supposed to be in the 60’s, so I’m looking forward to warmer weather for Halloween.

Well guys, that’s a wrap. Hope you enjoyed reading about what we’ve been up to this week! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I was cheering for the Dodgers this year so I’m excited they won. I can’t believe you almost had to miss it. Ugh. And two is one of my favourite ages for kids. There is something particularly special about two πŸ™‚ And I will definitely be checking out The Secret Zoo as I have a 9 and 11 year old who both love reading.

    1. I agree! Two was such a fun age! I hope you enjoy the Secret Zoo books if you try them out. So far the second book is great- it just starts off a little slower than the first.
