What’s Up Wednesday- November 2020

Happy Thanksgiving Eve everyone! Hope all of your shopping is done and you’re ready to start cooking in the morning! It’s the last Wednesday of November(how???) so I’m linking up with Shay for this months What’s Up Wednesday post. Every month we answer these questions:

So here we go:

What We’re Eating

We have been subscribing to the Marley Spoon meal kit delivery service for a couple months now. I purchase 3 or 4 meals a week and we have been really happy with the meals. Every dish is restaurant quality, and they’re easy to prepare. They usually take me less that 30 minutes from start to finish. Here are some pictures of some of the meals we’ve liked best:

These meal kits definitely help me mix it up! I tend to get stuck in cooking ruts where I repeat the same meals and get bored. I highly recommend Marley Spoon– it gives me a few nights a week to not have to think about what I’m making for dinner.

I also posted recently about an acorn squash recipe I came up with. If you missed it, you can find it here: Autumn Acorn Squash

Of course tomorrow I’ll be cooking up a big Thanksgiving feast- can’t wait for that! I’ll be dreaming of turkey gravy tonight…

What I’m Reminiscing About

Well, since this will be our first Thanksgiving in Oklahoma, and we’re away from all of our family and friends, I’m reminiscing about Thanksgivings past. I’ve hosted every year since 2007, so it will be really strange cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the 3 of us instead of 20 people or more. These pictures have been popping up on my memories this week:

I’m going to miss my people this year for sure!

What I’m Loving

I’m loving my Thanksgiving decor! I know lots of people have their Christmas decorations up already, but I insist on giving my Thanksgiving decorations their moment. I love the way our house looks all decked out in Harvest decor!

What We’ve Been Up To

We just got back last night from a little road trip! Our good friends were traveling to Texas so we decided to take a trip down to meet up with them. We broke up our long drive by stopping in the Dallas area first. We stayed at the Gaylord Texan Resort and I fell in love with the place as soon as I walked in. Take a look at the amazing decorations:

They also had all kinds of Christmas events going on! There was a movie scene walk-through, snow tubing, ice skating, and more. We had such a great time there!

Our next stop was in Lake Conroe to visit with our friends. We went to Topgolf, ate Texas BBQ, spent the day at a petting zoo, and just enjoyed spending time with one another.

It was a great little getaway!

What I’m Dreading

At the moment, nothing!

What I’m Working On

I’m super determined to get all of my Christmas shopping done, so I’ve been working diligently on that. Online shopping is my best friend right now!

What I’m Excited About

Well, besides stuffing my face with ALL the food tomorrow?? I’m really excited for Christmas! This has been such a CRAZY year, so I’m really looking forward to all the happy feelings that come with Christmas and all that goes with it. I’m excited to decorate, bake, watch Christmas movies, listen to Christmas music, etc. There are also some really neat Christmas light displays around the Oklahoma City area that I can’t wait to check out!

What I’m Watching/Reading

We are probably the last people to jump on the bandwagon, but we have been watching The Masked Singer! Cooper had been wanting to watch it, but I thought it looked really dumb, so I kept “forgetting” to record it. Well, he didn’t forget, so we ended up watching it on demand and we LOVE it! It’s so entertaining! I love having a show that the 3 of us can look forward to watching together.

This month I also watched Dirty John on Netfix and I thought that was SO good! I was really hooked from the first episode to the last. I found it even more fascinating knowing that it was based on a true story! If you like suspense I recommend watching this mini-series.

Cooper and I are still reading The Secret Zoo series together. We are now on book 3 in the series. The first book was definitely the best so far, but the others are entertaining too.

What I’m Listening To

Right now Cooper is on the phone with one of his best friends and their playing Roblox together at the same time. Listening to him laugh and have so much fun talking to his friend makes me so happy!

What I’m Wearing

Nothing new to report here- this time of year I’m definitely not spending money on clothes for myself. My son has lots of new clothes though! I had some Kohl’s bucks after doing some Christmas gift shopping, so I bought Cooper some new pants and stuff. He’s growing like a weed these days…

What I’m Doing This Weekend

We are heading to the movies for the first time this year, and we are going to see the new Croods Movie!

Other than that, we’ll just be eating lots of leftovers and putting out our Christmas decorations. I love the weekend after Thanksgiving!

What I’m Looking forward to Next Month

CHRISTMAS!!!!! I’m really hoping we can get a little bit of snow this month to REALLY put me in the Christmas mood. That would be amazing! Christmas really is the best time of the year πŸ™‚

That’s a wrap for this month’s What’s Up Wednesday! Don’t forget to link up from Shay’s page if you blog too.

Thank you for reading! I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day tomorrow!
