What’s Up Wednesday: September 2022

Hey everyone! How in the world are we already at the end of September??!! This month REALLY flew by! This time of year is so busy I always feel like I’m struggling to catch up. Then before I know it, it’s Christmas! 😳 I’m trying to get my footing now before the wheels fall off. I’m sure I’m not the only one, right?

Since it’s the last Wednesday of the month I’m linking up with Sheaffer and Shay for What’s Up Wednesday. I’ll be answering these questions:

So here goes! If you blog too, don’t forget to link up!

What We’re Eating This Week:

Tonight we’re going out for a special birthday dinner, and Thursday I’m making soup. The weather is “cooling off” this week to the mid-80’s so I’m declaring that soup weather! Hey, you gotta take what you can get, right? I’ll be making this recipe:

Zuppa Toscana

It’s my favorite!

Other than that, our dinners will be Marley Spoon meals. If you want a free box and 25% off 3 more orders here’s a link:

What I’m Reminiscing About:

A very special boy is turning 11 today, so I’m reminiscing about how quickly the last 11 years have flown by! I have truly tried to savor every moment, and it still went by in a flash. To all the moms out there with little ones- don’t blink! 😭 I wrote a special birthday post all about Cooper- you can check that out here:

Cooper is 11!!

What I’m Loving:

Speaking of Cooper, he started horseback riding lessons last week! I’m definitely loving that!

His horse is named Schatzi. He had to brush her and help with getting her saddled and ready to ride. Then he got to ride her around the arena and steer her through cones and other markers.

He loved it! After his lesson he said it was one of the best things he’s ever done. I LOVE that he loves animals so much. It makes my heart so happy 😊

What We’ve Been Up To:

What haven’t we been up to??! This month has been non-stop!

Our community pool had it’s End-of-Season party on Labor Day, so we enjoyed the pool one last time, Cooper played on the huge waterslide, and we ate yummy BBQ from a food truck.

We took a day trip a couple hours away from home and visited the Woolaroc Museum, and Pawhuska for the Pioneer Woman Mercantile. I wrote all about it in my post here:

Oklahoma Day Trip: Woolaroc Museum and Pawhuska

As an early birthday present, my two favorite guys took me to see the Backstreet Boys!! It was such a fun concert!

We also went to the Oklahoma State Fair! Twice! We ate yummy food, rode Gravitron and the Tilt-a-Wirl, saw the animals, and had a great time!

My Mom flew in from California to visit for my birthday and Cooper’s birthday party. Her first night here, we went to the Music Under the Stars Night at our community park. The kids played on the inflatable obstacle course, the bounce house, and the tire swing. We listened to live music and ate burgers from the food truck. After that we went back to our house and had way too much fun playing Uno and Scattagories. We laughed until we couldn’t breathe!

We celebrated my birthday with some yummy home-cooked Cuban food courtesy of my Mom. She also made me a delicious Tres Leche cake(my favorite dessert!). I got spoiled with presents and had a great birthday!

On the same day as my birthday, Cody and I also celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary!

16 years together, 10 years married πŸ’—

Finally, this weekend we celebrated Cooper’s birthday a little early with a party at our house! We went all out and he had the best time! It was a lot of work, and the clean up wasn’t fun, but to see him look SO happy made it all worthwhile. The theme was Fortnite(his current obsession), so we rented a video game truck for the party. We also rented a big bounce house/slide that they played on until waaay past all of our bedtimes.

What I’m Dreading:

Nothing at the moment 😊

What I’m Working On:

I’m working on getting the energy to get all of our Halloween decorations out of storage. I’m going to get started tomorrow and it’s a lot of work!

What I’m Excited About:

I’m excited about October! Halloween fun, the pumpkin patch, Fall Break, soup weather, baking weather, and we are sneaking in a fun trip!

What I’m Watching/Reading:

I started watching The Handmaids Tale this month and it’s such a crazy show! I really like it so far.

The only book I read this month was Let Me Lie by Clare Mackintosh. My friend Haley lent it to me and it was really good! It’s a thriller/mystery, and I was definitely surprised by this book. Lots of twists and turns! You can click here to read an excerpt from the book:

Let Me Lie

What I’m Listening To:

The quiet of my car while I sit in the school pickup line. It’s the most peaceful part of my day 😌

What I’m Wearing:

Still nothing new! But I did get a few giftcards for my birthday, so I will be shopping soon!

What I’m Doing This Weekend:

I’m not entirely sure. Probably lots of Halloween decorating, and taking it easy after the craziness of last weekend! Oh and also watching Hocus Pocus 2! I’m excited for that!

What I’m Looking Forward To Next Month:

I mentioned lots of stuff earlier in this post, but most of all I’m looking forward to a little trip we’ll be taking next month. I’ll definitely blog all about it.

*************

Well friends, that’s all for this month’s What’s Up Wednesday! I hope you are all having a great month and I hope October is an even better one for you. Thanks for reading!
